PROJECT SUPPORT
Umane works with partners in all its initiatives, and does not make donations outside the focus areas, or directly to individuals.
The propositions we receive go through a process based on our guidelines and strive to build upon and work side by side with organizations that share our ideal.
If you are interested in presenting and gaining support for an initiative, please read the frequently asked questions below. Next, fill out the Eligibility Questionnaire and then, we will soon respond regarding your proposal.
PROJECT SUPPORT
Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQ)
Umane prioritizes supporting projects from civil society organizations and/or non profits, which aims to impact public health and its prevention and promotion, in accordance to life cycles and the NCDs, and the risk factors prioritized by their institutional mandate. We do not finance or pass on resources to public safes, once we work with local implementing partners, generally through direct donations to these, or through contracts with private service providers.
The duration of projects varies according to their objectives and expected results, lasting, on average, 3 years. In this sense, proposals which have planned financial sustainability are very much welcome.
Umane can work in all regions of Brazil. It started its work in São Paulo, where most of its supported initiatives are today.
The most diverse tools can be used, depending on the area and the topic to be supported. Amongst them are edicts, qualified prospecting through research and indications, or through spontaneous demand of potential partners via site.
We recommend that you visit the sections that explain “ How we work – action models” and read this FAQ before requesting support for your project. After reading these sections and identifying mutual points, visit the “Contact/Project Support” section, so that we can get to know your institution and your project’s aim.
Visit the “Contact/Project Suport” section to learn about the main items that allow for an evaluation of your project.
Events, projects of fiscal authorities, realization of quick collective efforts and projects that do not interfere with or relate to Primary Attention to Health and NCDs and prioritized risk factors.
Projects related to, or very dependent on, hospital attention are also not prioritized, as well as those which focus on tertiary and quaternary prevention levels.
We cannot provide any information about supported projects. However, after reading this FAQ, you can learn more about “How We Work – Action Models” and about our project support. With this, you will have a notion of the eligibility of your project for a possible financing solicitation.
In the case of edicts, the process will be described on the edict itself. For all other cases, after sending your project information through the website, or being contacted by our team, a meeting will be scheduled, where we will get to know each other better. At the end of such meeting, if the proposed project adheres to Umane’s work, you will be required to fill out documents about your project, and will be able to change or receive feedback and adjustment and improvement suggestions from our team. With the completed document(s), you will partake in a meeting with our monitoring and evaluation sector, to establish the logic matrix of evaluation for the project. With the project information and evaluation matrix finalized, the project presentation will be scheduled, through a pitch to our Philanthropic Committee, for evaluation.
If there is an approval recommendation from the Filantropic Committee, your project’s information and matrix of evaluation will be further deepened.
With the detailed documentation done, Umane’s Board and Administration Council will evaluate your project.
With the Administration Council’s approval, the contract for post signature will begin, so that the project is able to commence.
Since first contact until signing the contract, a project can take between 4 and 12 months to be approved, or more. This variation is greatly caused by various factors: the proposal’s technical maturity; the proposals opperationability; external factors that influence the execution of the project on its territory; cofinancers of the project; filling out paperwork; proponent’s experience with the administration of social projects in health; scheduled meetings with Umane’s governance.
The results will be measured through a logic evaluation matrix, developed in partnership with Umane, which illustrates the series of deliveries and results that the initiative needs to go through to reach the set targets. For each part of the matrix, a group of indicators for accompaniment are specified. These indicators will be measured based on monitoring information and, when needed, specific data collection. See more on this topic in the section of Monitoring and Evaluation.
Yes, but it is not possible to re-submit a proposal that has already been denied.
Umane normally firms contracts of donations with charges in support to the projects, always through implementing partners.
