The Umane Association is committed to protecting the personal data and information shared by users as defined below. This policy sets out how data is protected during the processes of collection, recording, storage, use, sharing, enrichment, and deletion, in addition to Law No. 13.709/2018 (General Data Protection Law).

Definitions
PERSONAL DATA: Brazilian law defines “personal data” as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. In practice, the term includes any data that allows a person to be identified, such as: name, CPF, ID number, photograph, etc. Additionally, personal data may be sensitive or non-sensitive.SENSITIVE PERSONAL DATA: Sensitive personal data refers to information regarding racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, political opinions, union membership or membership in an organization of a religious, philosophical, or political nature, data related to health or sexual life, genetic or biometric data when linked to a natural person.
USER: any natural person who interacts with Umane in situations where they may provide their personal data. Examples: people browsing the website, portals, social media, employees, third parties, service providers, among others.
COOKIES: Cookies are information files stored on your computer or mobile devices through your internet browser. These files allow a website to “remember” a user’s actions and preferences for a certain period. Cookies exist so that when a user returns to a website they have already visited, they usually do not have to re-enter their browsing preferences (language, font, display settings, etc.). Cookies may be persistent or session-based.
PERSISTENT COOKIES: remain on the user’s computer even after closing the session or until manually deleted.
SESSION COOKIES: expire when the user closes the browser.
CONSENT FORM: a document that collects explicit agreement for the processing of personal data for specific purposes.
Collection of personal data
The collection of personal data may be necessary for Umane to meet users’ needs, as well as to personalize the content provided, making the experience as convenient and satisfactory as possible (e.g., website registration to receive newsletters with Umane’s news and activities or related to promoting health and preventing chronic non-communicable diseases).
By knowing more about you, Umane can provide more relevant content and consequently offer a better online experience.
Use of personal data
Umane is responsible for processing users’ personal data or forwarding it to designated subcontracted entities.
The personal data collected from users, including those directly or indirectly related to their health, may be processed for purposes related to influencing public health policies in the social projects supported by Umane, as well as for auditing and continuous improvement. Umane may process collected personal data for purposes and communications relevant to promoting health and preventing chronic non-communicable diseases.
Sharing of personal data
Personal information provided will not be disclosed without prior authorization. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. This information is used exclusively to create user profiles and improve the quality of communications with you, while enabling our staff to deliver more effective content.
We may share users’ personal data with third parties when such communication becomes necessary or appropriate (i) under applicable law, (ii) to comply with legal obligations/court orders, (iii) under direction from the National Data Protection Authority or another competent authority, or (iv) to respond to requests from public or governmental authorities.
We will take all reasonably necessary measures to ensure that your data is treated reliably, securely, and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Retention of personal data
Data is stored only for the period necessary for each of the purposes described above and/or according to current legal deadlines. In the case of pending litigation, data may be retained until the final decision.
Additionally, Umane states that it will maintain all technical means at its disposal to prevent loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorized access, and inappropriate handling of personal data. However, since data circulates through open internet networks, it is not possible to completely eliminate the risk of unauthorized access and use, so users should implement appropriate security measures for website navigation.
Cookies and similar technologies
Umane receives and stores user data through the use of cookies.
Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies, though it is possible to configure the browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. When a cookie is accepted, on a future visit to the Umane website, the server will recognize the user’s computer or mobile device.
The website uses persistent and session cookies. Persistent cookies may be removed by following the instructions in the browser’s help section.
Purpose of using Cookies
Analytics: statistical analysis of navigation to improve user experience.Advertising: analysis of navigation habits and preferences to display advertisements specifically aligned with the user’s profile.
User rights
Under applicable law, the data subject may at any time request access to their data, as well as correction, deletion, limitation of processing, portability, or objection to processing, except in cases provided by law. These rights may be exercised through a written request sent to: contato@umane.org.br.
Website content and its use
All content on www.umane.org.br is the property of the Umane Association, and its reproduction—total or partial—for commercial or editorial use or republication on the internet must be authorized and must cite the source and include a link to the original content (Law 9.610/98).
Complaints and questions
If you have any questions related to the processing of your personal data and the rights granted by applicable law, especially as referred to in this Policy, you may contact Umane at: contato@umane.org.br.
Users also have the right to file a complaint with the National Data Protection Authority as provided by law.
Changes to the privacy and cookies policy
We may change this Privacy and Cookie Policy at any time. These changes will be properly communicated and, if they represent a substantial modification regarding how your data is processed, Umane will contact you using the information provided.
