The project supports integrated advocacy and communication actions to strengthen public policies for the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The initiative is based on the 360-Degree Prevention concept, which proposes a broad and coordinated action on the different factors that influence population health, combining evidence production, political advocacy, social mobilization, and strategic communication.
The proposal involves actions across the three branches of government, partnership building, alignment between global and local agendas, and intersectoral action to drive more effective regulatory measures and public policies. The project also includes monitoring the regulated sector, contributing to qualifying public debate and supporting evidence-based decisions.
With this approach, the initiative seeks to strengthen prevention throughout the entire life cycle, reduce the population’s exposure to risk factors, and contribute to decreasing the burden of NCDs on people living in Brazil and on the Unified Health System (SUS).
Strengthening and boosting effective public policies for NCD prevention
“360-Degree Prevention represents a paradigm shift by integrating health, equity, and sustainability into a single agenda. The approach recognizes that chronic diseases share common risk factors and social, environmental, and economic determinants, guiding policies capable of strengthening the SUS, preventing avoidable diseases, and promoting benefits for society as a whole.”
