Pregnant women, women in labor, and newborns living in the city of São Paulo
Since 2009, Umane has maintained the Obstetric and Neonatal Regulation Center (CRON), whose goal is to help reduce maternal and neonatal mortality indicators and ensure adequate and rapid medical care for women and newborns who require additional care in the city of São Paulo and its metropolitan region.
With a team operating 24 hours a day, every day, the Center actively searches for, refers, and monitors pregnant women, women in labor, and babies who present complications and require hospitalization in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) or pediatric surgeries. Since 2016, a partnership has been established with the São Paulo Municipal Health Department to strengthen CRON’s management.
By regulating neonatal ICU admission, neonatal pediatric surgery, neonatal neurosurgery, and congenital cardiovascular surgery, CRON’s work proved effective once again, helping address obstetric and neonatal complications with agility and, consequently, reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
The Center received more than 9.6 thousand requests throughout the year and achieved a resolution rate of 88.5%. There was a slight increase in the monthly average of requests received in 2024 (805) compared to the previous year (791), confirming the post-pandemic stabilization trend— in 2021, the monthly average reached 903, the highest since 2016.
