Facing childhood obesity
Helping to train Primary Health Care professionals to prevent, treat, and contain the advance of obesity among children and young people is the purpose of the Facing Childhood and Adolescent Obesity Project. Umane supports Instituto Desiderata, creator of the initiative.
Currently, 1 in 3 children in Brazil are overweight or obese, according to data from the country’s Ministry of Health. Information from the World Health Organization shows that the worldwide incidence of obesity has tripled since 1975, and today it affects about 380 million children and young people from zero to 19 years old.
